Tiberian
Sun Facts
Information
from the CEO of Westwood
"The technology behind the engine,
the lighting system, the units, and the visual systems
are being completely overhauled and changed. For Tiberian
Sun, we are experimenting with other perspectives, but
for a strategy game, we still favor some kind of top-down
view because of all the control it gives you. Will it be
a point-of-view 3D engine like Mechwarrior? No, not for
Tiberian Sun. However, for future Command & Conquer
products we are also experimenting with some other new
ideas, but they probably won't appear or be discussed
until the end of 1998. The next big game, Command &
Conquer: Tiberian Sun, should be out in the Spring,
1998." This info came from Brett Sperry (CEO
Westwood)
Facts
Frm PCGamer
"Well,
here's the big one -- the full blown sequel to the
original Command & Conquer. Westwood continues to be
extremely tight-lipped about C&C Tiberian Sun, but we
can tell you this much: The game will be using voxel
technology ( the "volume pixels" used in Blade
Runner [A voxel is a pixel that has Height, Width, and
Depth; a sort of 3D technology that Westwood came up
with.] ), so expect and more 3D-ish look, and two
features already confirmed in game-play are space
stations and genetic mutations. Expect to see Command
& Conquer: Tiberian Sun in stores in the summer or
fall of 1998 and more information in PC Gamer soon."
Misc.
Facts
-It's definite that Tiberian Sun will
not use a 3D perspective like Mechwarrior, as was thought
from the demo video from C&C.
-Maps in Tiberian Sun are to be 2X bigger than the maps
in Red Alert and 4X bigger than the maps in C&C.
-In Tiberian Sun, you will be able to zoom in and out to
get closer to battles or to see where your Harvester may
have wandered off to.
-Westwood will be implementing weather conditions such as
rain, snow, clouds, and even smog.
-Tiberian Sun will be set in the future of Tiberian Dawn
and all the weapons and technologies will be far more
advanced.
-Tiberian Sun will have much bigger and better explosions
and also better sound effects.
-There will be nothing to do with aliens in Tiberian Sun.

Tiberian
Sun Rumors
Antarctica
Info
from an inside source at Westwood... After the fall of
NOD, Kane comes back with a new army and takes over the
whole world except for Antartica, where GDI makes its
last stand. Also, soldiers WILL be able to swim and climb
mountains, as originally planned for Red Alert. There
will be a large crane unit that will be able to pick up
tanks and other units.
New
Game Engine
Tiberian
Sun will use an entire re-written engine (Red Alert does
NOT use a new engine, it is an improved engine from
c&c). The new engine is supposed to be awesome and
will use the voxel technology found in BladeRunner. The
voxel technology will enhance the 3d looks of units.
Type
of Game
Tiberian
Sun will be a real-time strategy game, being the
successor of Red Alert and Command & Conquer. The new
interface will be drastically changed from Red Alert's,
including features such as zooming in for individual
battles.
Map
The
maps of Tiberian Sun will be much bigger than those in
Red Alert, up to four times the size, and who knows,
maybe even larger! The terrain will be considere
"living" with weather conditions like snow,
rain, clouds, smog, sunny, etc... There are also planned
earthquakes and other geographical features implemented
into the maps.
Mechs
OK, I heard
this following on WChat, since the Tiberium is turning
creatures into mutations if the GDI or the Brotherhood of
Nod want to mess with tiberium they will need something
to protect their soldiers from Tiberium, so maybe all the
infanty will have those suits, I think that the real
reason for that is because the development team realized
that in RA infanty was useless because it's slow, got
short range weapons, and slow firing rate, and got no
armor so, the Mechtroopers are fast, well defended, got
longer range, faster reload rate, also they can carry
heavier weapons then infanty. and another reason is the
tank rush, it's so good just because the infanty is too
weak, so in TS tank rush won't be so useful because of
Mechtroopers.
Settings
As of now Tiberian
Sun will NOT be set in the time and place of Command and
Conquer! It will instead be set in the alternate universe
that Red Alert is set in. Also, on the back of the
C&C manual you will notice a unit that is in a robot
suit. It has been designated the Mechtrooper and is like
a soldier, only with a faster rate of fire and a better
ability to absorb damage.
Add
On Pack
There are
plans for an add on circling through Westwood if Tiberian
Sun is successful! The name as of now is Tiberian Sun:
Tiberian Wars! (This is only a planned name and it may
change if the extension is released!). More on this
later!
Other
Options and Settings
There will be many in-game effects like in-game movies.
And when you destroy someone, they won't just
"disappear" like C&C, instead they will
"fly away" a bit (a bit like the Z effects but
better!) After an Interview on Red Alert with an Ed (Your
guess is as good as mine) done by Game Slice Weekly,
there was a small hint from him, that the future Game
Engine of TS, would use both above view, as we have seen
in C&C etc, and an First-Person view, so you
